A trigger is a mechanism for a chatbot to start based on certain conditions. Setting up the right triggers will help you manage your chatbots the most effectively. This article will provide an overview on how to set up chatbot triggers in TruCHAT.

1. Go to the Chatbots section and click the chatbot you want to add a trigger to.

2. When in the Diagram tab, click Add and select Add Trigger.

3. Set a descriptive name for your trigger. For example, if you want your chatbot to start upon page loading, name the trigger Page Loaded.

4. Select a connection where your chatbot will start upon the current trigger. All available connections are presented in the dropdown list.

5. Click Add Condition

6. Select a condition (Page Loaded in our case) from the dropdown list.

7. Click Save. You can add more conditions if you wish.

8. Select a script that will run when the trigger fires.

9. Check Launch New Conversation Session if you want your chatbot to restart every time a new page is loaded. Check Clear Conversation History if you want to clear the message history in the chatbot window when the current trigger fires.

10. Set the trigger priority to determine which trigger will fire first if two or more trigger conditions are met at the same time.

11. Click Save.

12. You can deactivate a trigger by clicking the toggle button  to the right of its name. This will allow you to save it and use later.
