Welcome to Messaging! In this article we will discuss some basic things you need to know to start off with the email marketing platform. Off we go! 
Let’s take a good look at these points: 


What Contacts Are

The Contacts section contains the list of all the contacts added on the current account, including their name, email, status, source, phone number and date of creation. Contacts can be added manually by the administrator or submitted by customers via blog/event signup, during a chat session or by filling out a form on the connected website. You can divide your contacts into segments to maintain a personal approach to each group.

How To Create A Contact

To add a new contact, go to the Contacts section and click the Add Contact button (see Figure 1). Enter a name and an email manually.

In the Contacts section you can also fill in other system fields: gender, date of birth, company, etc. (see Figure 2)

How To Create A Custom Field

You can also add custom fields to specify information about your contacts. You can do it in the Fields section (see Figure 3). See the article How To Create Custom Fields In Messaging for details.

What Blasts Are

Blasts are messages that are sent to a wide group of recipients at a time. TruVisibility platform offers you two types of blast campaigns: email blasts and SMS blasts. Let’s create your first email blast.

How To Create An Email Blast

Go to the Blasts section and click the Add Blast button.

Enter the name of your blast campaign, select its type. Click Next.

Enter recipients. Click Next.

Choose the email template. In order to do this, select Blast Templates in the left sidebar and pick a category from the list. Then tick an appropriate template (see Figure 7). Click Next.

You are in the HTML editor. Customize the template to your needs. Click Next.

The remaining thing to do is to configure your email settings, which include the email sender, the subject,  the preview text, and the postal address. 
Let’s start with the email sender. TruVisibility is selected as a default sender (see Figure 9).

The subject of your email will help your audience get an idea of what this email is about. You can make the subject personalized by using custom fields, e. g. the contact's first name. Just click the tag icon at the end of the text box and select the corresponding custom field from the dropdown list (see Figure 10). This list can be also opened by typing @ in the text box or using Ctrl+I hotkey. In case there is no stored value for the selected field, you can enter the fallback value to use instead.

Enter the preview text which is a summary of your email.

Specify your postal address to let customers know where your office is located and how they can contact you by mail. Click on the plus icon below the Postal Address field and enter the data (see Figure 12). Then click Finish.

 When the process of creating an email blast is over, the Edit page opens where you still have a chance to revise all the steps and put the finishing touch on your email.

While you are on the Edit page, you can preview your email. To do this, click on the Preview button in the upper right corner of the page (see Figure 14).

What Autoresponders Are

Autoresponders are emails that are sent upon a trigger in response to an external event, such as contact birthday, new blog post being published or order shipped. Autoresponders can be sent not only to external users, but also to website owners to inform them, for example, about a form being submitted.

Let's now create an autoresponder.

How To Create An Autoresponder

Go to the Autoresponders section and click Add Autoresponder.

Select a scenario and choose a corresponding template. Click Next.

You are on the Edit page. Enter the name, the subject and the preview text of your autoresponder. Then select recipients. In the field “From”, TruVisibility is selected as a default sender (see Figure 17).

Customize your email in the HTML editor by adding text and images as well as changing layouts.

Click the Preview button to see what your email looks like.

You can send a test email to see how it works. In order to do this, choose Send Test Email in the three dot menu (see Figure 20).
