Introduction

In Messaging, you can find a wide range of templates for blasts. You can also produce your own template. This article describes the process of creating a blast template from scratch.

How to Create a Blast Template from Scratch

To do this, perform the following steps.

1. Go to the Templates section and then to the Blasts section. Click “Add Template” in the upper-right side of the page.

2. Enter the template name, subject, and preview text (the language field is predefined). Click “Next”.

3. On this page, you can customize your template with the aid of an HTML editor. It is possible to add, edit, move or delete elements, including images, text, buttons, separate lines, etc. 

Let’s start with the background color. Click on the gear icon in the upper-right side of the page, choose Style Setting.

After that, click on the “Page” button.

Now choose the color you need by clicking on the box with colors.

You can choose from predefined colors or select color randomly by clicking and dragging your cursor. You can also enter the RGB values manually.

Once you select the color, click “Save”.

4. Now it’s time to add the other elements. Let’s start with your logo. Before uploading it, add a background. Click the “Add” button, choose Layout and then Columns.

Choose One Column and the same background color. The changes will be saved automatically, so clicking the "Save" button is not necessary.

Now you can upload the logo. Click the “Add” button, choose Content and then Image.

Drag and drop an image or click “Select Files” to upload the file with the logo.

Once the image is uploaded, click “Set Image”.

In the edit menu, you can customize the uploaded image.

Choose alignment from the dropdown list by clicking on the arrow icon. Let’s select center alignment.

After that, select style from the dropdown list by clicking on the arrow icon. Let’s choose circle style.

Now set up the width of your image. You can do it by clicking the plus and minus icons or by typing the needed value into the field.

In the edit menu, you can also add Alternative Text that allows you to get text information about an image if image loading is disabled in the browser.

If you want to remove indents and make the image larger, enable a toggle as shown in the Figure 21.

In addition, you can configure the aspect ratio. If a toggle is enabled, the height of the image is set up automatically.

If a toggle is disabled, you can set up the height manually by clicking the plus and minus icons or by typing the needed value into the field.

Now drag and drop the image to the background.

5. Let’s continue adding elements. Upload the background for them via the Layout menu as described in Step 4. Choose One Column and white color.

Now let’s add a picture of your product via the Content menu as described in Step 4. Configure the image settings. After that, drag and drop the image to the white background.

Now it’s time to add text. Click the “Add” button, choose Content, then Text. A text block with editing tools will appear.

Instead of the sample, add the needed text. For example, highlight what you are selling and why your customers should buy it. You can make the text bold, italic, or strikethrough; you can also choose alignment, font size, font type, and font color.

In the edit menu, you can remove indents. To do this, enable a toggle as shown in Figure 30.

In the edit menu, you can also set up the text background. To do this, enable a toggle. Choose background color and border width. If the border width is more than 0, you can select border style, and border color.

Now let’s add the “Buy Now” button. Click the “Add” button, select Interaction, then Button. The edit menu will open.

In the Caption field, enter the button text you need. Then choose the width and alignment of the button from the dropdown list. After that, select the background color and background color on hover. If you want to make button corners rounded, increase the Border Radius.

6. Let’s continue describing your product and add more text and images. Before adding them, upload the background via the Layout menu as outlined in Step 4. Choose Two Columns and background color.

In the left column, add your product name and its picture via the Content menu.

7. Now let’s add one more “Buy Now” button as described in Step 5. Before, upload the background with one column, select the background color.

To this button, add a border. To do this, change the border value from 0 to 1 or more. Select the border color and border color on hover.

8. Now it’s time to add links to your social networks. Click the “Add” button, select Social, then Social Links. In the edit menu on the left, you can add or delete social networks by enabling/disabling a toggle. In the fields, you can enter the links to the social networks.

In the edit menu, you can also set alignment, icons size, padding, and background. To configure background, enable a toggle. After that, set background color and customize the border.

To line off the social networks icons, you can add a line. Click the “Add” button, select Layout, then Line. In the edit menu, configure style, thickness, color, background color, and padding for the line.

9. Once you configure all the needed settings, click “Finish”. After that, you can preview your template by clicking on the “Preview” button.

You also can copy your template, add it to Favorites, or delete. Find these options by clicking on the ellipsis in the upper-right side of the page.

Now you can use the created template for sending blasts.

10. You can create a blast template in a different way. Go to the Blasts section and click “Add Blast”.

Enter a blast campaign name and choose its type. Then click “Next”.

Select recipients, click “Next”.

On the page with templates, choose an Empty Email. After that, click “Next”.

On this page you can customize your template with the aid of an HTML editor. It is possible to add, edit, move or delete elements, including images, text, buttons, separating lines etc.

Once all the needed elements are added, click “Next”.

On the next page, enter the subject of the email, the preview text, and postal address. Then click “Finish”.

Now you can preview or send the email by clicking on the corresponding buttons.

You can also send a test email, duplicate the blast, save it as template, or delete. Find these options by clicking on the ellipsis in the upper-right side of the page.

Managing Elements

Once all the elements are added, let’s see how you can manage them. Click on the element. On the right, a blue sidebar with five icons will appear. By clicking on them, you can move, copy, paste, and delete elements.

To move an element up, click on the up arrow icon.

Page Structure

There is one more tool to manage the elements of your template – Page Structure. To open it, click on the gear icon in the upper-right side of the page.

By clicking on the “Page Structure” button, a window with structure of your blast with all the elements layout will open. Scroll down to see all the elements.

In this window, you can change the places of elements and delete them. To move an element up, click on the up arrow icon.
