This article describes what email blasts are and how you can use them to keep in touch with your audience. You will need this functionality whenever you launch a new product, start a sale, publish new content on your website, and in many other cases. You will learn how to create an email blast using the Messaging built-in wizard and how to configure its various parameters. Although, if you are completely new to email marketing, you might want to check the article Getting Started With Messaging first.

We will discuss the following topics:

What Is An Email Blast

An email blast is an email that is sent to a wide group of recipients at a time. Its main purpose is to promote a product or a service, to inform customers about discounts or upcoming events, and to maintain relationships with them in general (see Figure 1). Such communication usually results in customers' loyalty and increased sales.

Steps To Create An Email Blast

Give Name

First thing you should decide on when creating an email blast is its name (see Figure 2). It will help you remember what this email blast is about. It will be convenient if you make it short enough to be displayed without truncation.

Choose Type

TruVisibility platform offers you two types of blast campaigns: email blasts fully functioning and SMS blasts coming soon (see Figure 3). Each blast campaign type has its advantages as well as weak points. Email blasts give you more space and ability to use media, while SMS blasts are more likely to be opened and read. Let's choose Email Blasts for now.

Select Recipients

Once you’ve chosen a blast campaign type, the wizard will offer you to select the recipients. Start typing an email address or part of a segment name, and the system will suggest matches if any (see Figure 4). To learn more about segmentation, please see the article How to Segment your Audience in Messaging.

Choose Template

Filter By Language

Templates can be filtered by language to ease the search. All languages are selected by default. You can also select English or Russian. To filter templates by language, click on the downward arrow next to the word Language and select the desired language (see Figure 5).

Filter By Category

Another way to organize templates is filtering them by category. There are plenty of categories to meet your every need and fit any case. To filter templates by category, select Free Templates in the left sidebar and pick a category from the list (see Figure 6).

You can preview a template to see what your email will look like in both desktop and mobile view. To preview a template, hover over its thumbnail and click on the Preview button which will appear in its center (see Figure 7). The selected template will open in a new tab.

Add To Favorites

Templates that you like most or use most often can be added to the Favorites section. To add a template to Favorites, just click on the heart icon in its upper right corner (see Figure 8). To remove a template from Favorites, click on the heart icon again.

When you finally make up your mind on the template, you will want to select it and proceed to the next step in the wizard. To select a template, hover over its thumbnail and click anywhere in the darkened area except for the Preview button and the heart icon. A green tick will appear in its upper left corner indicating that the template is selected (see Figure 9).

Edit Your Email Using Message Editor

Once you’ve selected an email template, you will be directed to the HTML editor to customize it (see Figure 10). There are plenty of different ways to do this. You can edit, move or delete each element, including images, text, buttons, and even separating lines! Set your company’s name and logo, add a suitable image, and create a message that will provide your audience with the best email marketing experience.

Configure Settings

The remaining thing to do is to configure your email settings, which include the email sender, the subject, and the preview text. You’ll also have to set an email footer, which is located in the lower part of your email and usually contains your postal address, trademark information, social media links, and the Unsubscribe button.

This field contains the name and the email address of the email blast sender (see Figure 11). TruVisibility is selected as a default sender. Senders can be configured in the Settings section in the left sidebar of the Messaging platform.

The subject of your email will help your audience get an idea of what this email is about. You can make the subject personalized by using custom fields, e. g. the contact's first name. Just click the tag icon at the end of the text box and select the corresponding custom field from the dropdown list (see Figure 12). This list can be also opened by typing @ in the text box or using Ctrl+I hotkey. In case there is no stored value for the selected field, you can enter the fallback value to use instead.

Postal Address

Specify your postal address to let your customers know where your office is located and how they can contact you by mail. To add a new address, click on the plus icon below the Postal Address field (see Figure 13). Once the New Postal Address pop-up appears, fill out all the required fields and click Add.

What You Can Do With The Created Email Blast

When the process of creating an email blast is over, the Edit page opens where you still have a chance to revise all the steps and put the finishing touch on your email (see Figure 14). Not only can you change the name, sender, recipients and subject, but even create a new segment! The body of your email can be also altered here.
